Hi ,
Earlier this month, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released the final instalment of its Sixth Assessment Report. The report's message is clear: current efforts to curb emissions simply aren’t enough. Emission-cutting technologies must be implemented immediately and on a large scale – and that's just one of the many measures necessary to keep the 1.5°C target from slipping entirely out of reach. Read on for more insights from the report, including a statement from IKEM’s own Dr Alexandra Novikova, who contributed to the assessment as a lead author. The need for urgent action on climate change continues to motivate IKEM’s work, this month and every month. In this April issue of our newsletter, we highlight the IKEM Mobility Department’s role in the EUniS project, an initiative that aims to slash emissions by electrifying public transport in rural areas. We spoke with the project leader to find out more on the project – you'll find that interview below. This issue also introduces the three newest members of IKEM’s Scientific and Strategic Advisory Board, who bring with them extensive expertise on a range of issues, including climate change policy, water law, and sustainable entrepreneurship. And don't miss our announcement of the newly released Handbuch Klimaschutzrecht, a handbook edited by IKEM Director Michael Rodi to fill existing gaps in the emerging field of climate law. We hope you enjoy the read! Until next time, The IKEM Communications Team |
