Hi ,
Inclusive and sustainable mobility as connecting element between places, people and opportunities: unfortunately, this is often a challenge in rural areas. This is why many people there, in comparison to cities, are still dependent on cars to fulfil their basic needs. This can and must change: we invite you to find out what rural mobility in Europe could look like in the future and how the new MobiLR project is contributing to this in the interview with Dr. Alexandra Appel, Head of the Mobility department.
The search for connecting elements is also on the agenda at COP29: strategies for solving the climate crisis are discussed amongst different countries and stakeholders at the annual meetings that take place between the parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. We will show you how IKEM is going to be present at COP29 which is taking place in Baku from 11 to 22 November. We will also introduce you to the exciting new projects of IKEM's different departments, that deal with topics such as electric road systems or the legal framework for hydrogen and biomethane.
As always, we will take a look back at the events of the past month – including ”Forum Wärmewende“ and the annual conference of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Baltic Sea Region Research – and invite you to a lecture that is part of the lecture series ”Automated Systems“.
We hope you enjoy reading this issue of our newsletter!
Until next time,
The IKEM Communications Team
